So we posted this on our Facebook page just now and I'm curious whether people will stick to this. .................

I just got a response from a guy named DeJuan in which he said: "false. The body works in mysterious ways and has it's own system of checks and balances that can play games with that seemingly simple formula." It's an articulate answer. But that's like saying that if you have 10 cups of water in a bucket, then you pour 3 cups of water into the bucket, and then you pour out 4 cups of water that you will not necessarily have less water than when you started. It's an absolute fact that you will have less than 10 cups of water at this point. And that equals weight loss when you apply it to calories in the body.

Now, that doesn't necessarily mean that there isn't still a couple of catches here. For example, I think personally that it comes down to the calorie "burn" in the equation. I think that people don't necessarily trust this formula when they experience a slowing in their metabolism. They lose weight, then this "system of checks and balances" that DeJuan mentioned kicks in and the body protects itself by slowing the burn rate. It's still a scientific formula that calories in vs. calories out leads to either weight gain or weight loss; however, the key is to safely push through the period of testing in which the body holds on a little tighter and doesn't burn as fast.
