The Importance of Water
The Importance of Water
Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.
Preliminary research indicates that drinking more water could significantly ease back and joint pain.
A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.
Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer, breast cancer and bladder cancer.
Ideas to help: Make a bet with a co-worker to see who can drink more water in a day.
Have a glass of water at every transitional point of the day: when you first wake up, just before leaving the house, when you sit down to work, when you get back from lunch, etc.
When you have a junk-food craving, down a glass of water immediately.
Drink with a straw. You can drink much more that way.
Freeze little bits of peeled lemons, limes and oranges and use them in place of ice cubes - it's refreshing and helps get in a serving or two of fruit.
Don't allow yourself a diet soda until you've had two glasses of water. You will find that you won't want the soda anymore or that just half a can is enough.
Carry a small, refillable water bottle at all times. Drink while waiting in line at the bank, in your car, during a meeting, while doing laundry, etc.
